JAMES HENRY FRY.

James H. Fry, son of Reuben Fry, 'who married Ann C. Slaughter, was born in 
Culpepper county, Virginia, December 27, 1798, and came to Charleston in 
October, 1818. He studied law in the office of his brother, the late Judge 
Joseph L. Fry, and was admitted to the bar, but abandoned the practice, and 
engaged in more active business pursuits. He was a salt maker in the Salines 
for a number of years; was deputy sheriff for two or three terms, and was 
sheriff of the county for four consecutive years. He served two terms in the 
lower branch of the Virginia Legislature, and one term in the State Senate. 
Mr. Fry was an excellent business man, and was universally respected by every 
one who knew him.  He died at his residence in Charleston, June 26, 1863. His 
wife, and several sons and daughters, still reside in Charleston.
