Welcome to the West Virginia Biographies Project
The U.S. Biographies Project was organized in May of 1997 by Jeff Murphy, founder of the USGenWeb Project, to present actual transcriptions of public domain biographies on the Internet. This huge undertaking is the cooperative effort of volunteers who are willing to transcribe public documents to contribute.
Organization is by county and state, and this website provides you with links to all the state genealogy websites hosted on this site which, in turn, provide gateways to the counties.
Clicking on a State Link (on the left) will take you to the West Virginia Biographies Project webpage. Clicking on the other links will take you to additional information and links.
Volunteers are needed to enter, edit, and archive the biographies for each project. If you have biographies you would like to donate, please contact the state coordinator or the appropriate county coordinator.
All of the volunteers who make up The U.S. Biographies Project are very proud of this endeavor and hope that you will find their hard work both beneficial and rewarding. Thank you for visiting!
